New Delhi, July 26, 2025 – The Government of India has intensified efforts to safeguard the nation’s digital and physical infrastructure, conducting over 9,700 cybersecurity audits in 2024–25, as reported by the Press Information Bureau. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) led these efforts, performing 9,708 audits across critical sectors: 7,547 in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI), 1,579 in Power & Energy, and 582 in Transport. The National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) complemented this with 90 additional audits, including 46 in Power & Energy, 41 in BFSI, and 3 in Transport.
To strengthen cyber resilience, the government has rolled out several initiatives. Sector-specific Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs), such as CSIRT-Fin for finance and CSIRT-Power for energy, are now operational to enhance sector-wide cybersecurity coordination. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has developed indigenous tools for mobile security, forensics, and analytics, reducing reliance on foreign solutions. Additionally, CERT-In’s Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP) provides a strategic framework to counter cyber-attacks and cyber-terrorism, supported by 205 workshops to educate government bodies and key organizations.
Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada, shared these updates in the Rajya Sabha on July 25, 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to a secure and trusted cyberspace for all.
